MEMBERNEWS Ureco savings soar at Celtic Manor

Derby-based HSG has completed work to install its innovative Ureco washroom water conservation system at the multi-award-winning Celtic Manor Resort in South Wales. Celtic Manor, host venue for the

2010 Ryder Cup and the 2014 NATO Summit, includes three hotels, a large convention centre, three spas and health clubs alongside three 18-hole championship golf courses. Having been recognised with a

host of awards for the quality of its facilities, Celtic Manor Resort was keen to reduce its water and repair bills and improve the washroom experience for visitors.

The HSG team surveyed the site

and demonstrated that the Ureco system installation would cut water usage from nearly 11 million litres a year to just under 500,000 litres. This will result in reduced water

costs from £63.63 a day to £2.90 a day - amounting to annual savings of £22,161. Further savings will also be achieved through reduced blockages leading to costly repairs. After a successful six week trial,

the HSG team has now installed 117 Ureco urinal sleeves and 30 Uretech water management controls across the resort which will be supported by regular service checks.

The Ureco system, developed

with patented technology by HSG, has itself won a string of innovation and sustainability awards – including The Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation in April 2018. The Ureco stops smells by

trapping urinal odours below the surface and reduces blockages through the patented enzyme system which breaks down the fat, acid and salt in urine. This enables the Uretech to

reduce urinal flushes from around 96 times to just four times a day. Celtic Manor Resort Energy and

Environmental Manager Joel Kirby said: “We were keen to see the Ureco in action and undertook a

very successful six-week trial. The full installation has now been completed with minimal disruption. “The savings speak for themselves and there has been positive feedback from staff and customers about the improved washroom experience.” HSG Managing Director Simon

Rice added: “We are obviously delighted to have Celtic Manor Resort on board. They join a portfolio of long-

standing customers including the 02 Arena in London, NEC in Birmingham, major restaurant chains as well as in top football clubs and some of the largest retail shopping centres across the country.”

Airport bus link hits passenger milestone

A new bus link connecting workers and passengers from Erewash to East Midlands Airport has carried 50,000 people in its first nine months. trentbarton created the new bus link in March 2018 for the people of

Ilkeston, Stapleford and Sandiacre to access the thousands of new jobs being created in and around East Midlands Airport. The extension to the my15 service has run every hour, seven days a week,

connecting the towns’ workers to current and future employment opportunities. It has also proved ideal for local jetsetters flying into or out of the airport. Jeff Counsell, Managing Director at trentbarton, said:

“The new addition to my15 has really taken off with workers at the airport and in the many businesses based nearby. “The number of customers has exceeded our

expectations and the local communities that my15 serves have embraced their new direct link to the airport. “East Midlands Airport and surrounding businesses

have ambitious plans to be a major transport and employment hub over the next ten years, and we’re doing our bit to help drive that growth by connecting workers and holidaymakers around the clock. “By deploying newly refurbished buses to boost

the fleet, trentbarton has given my15 more buses that run more often to give a sustainable, comfortable, affordable way to get to and from work.”

8 business network March 2019 Karen Smart, East Midlands Airport’s Managing Director, said: “This corner

of North-West Leicestershire is one of the fastest growing employment sites in the region. It’s therefore more important than ever to make it as easy as possible for people from all over the region to be able to get to here, whether it’s for work or to fly from their local airport. The bus network is critical to this and I’m delighted that my15 is proving to be a success.”
