MEMBER NEWS IN BRIEF
Bank’s balance reaches major milestone
Leicester-based Cambridge & Counties Bank, a specialist lender, has seen its balance sheet top £1bn for the first time. The growth of its balance sheet
has been driven by lending to its core client base of real estate investors, property developers and SMEs, primarily through brokers and intermediaries, with significant growth in its core East Midlands and North West markets. In addition, last year also saw the emergence of strong lending growth in the South West and Wales following a targeted office expansion and network investment programme. Simon Lindley, Chief
Development Officer, Cambridge & Counties Bank, said: “We have seen some of our competitors drop away from the market but we remain resolute in helping UK businesses grow and invest. The bank has developed a strong, unique and customer focused business model which has generated real momentum in our selected product lines and target markets.” Cambridge & Counties Bank,
which is jointly owned by Trinity Hall, a College of the University of Cambridge, and Cambridgeshire Local Government Pension Fund, is predicting further growth in 2019.
Two nominations for Futures Housing Group
Futures Housing Group, an award-winning and growing housing provider which manages around 10,000 homes throughout the East Midlands, has been nominated for two awards in the UK’s biggest celebration of social housing. The housing provider is
shortlisted in the Landlord of the Year and Campaign of the Year categories at the UK Housing Awards. Contenders in the landlord
category are shortlisted because of their efficiency and quality of services. Meanwhile, the campaign category is judged on how organisations put communications at their heart to achieve specific objectives. Lindsey Williams, Group Chief
Executive, said: “This is wonderful news for the Group. Getting on the shortlist alongside such great organisations for these awards is no mean feat. It is great, deserved recognition of the fantastic work our teams do throughout Futures.” The awards, organised by
Inside Housing and the Chartered Institute of Housing, will be held on 1 May in London.

Triple award win success for PKF Cooper Parry
A fast-growing accountancy business has won three awards, including the main prize, at the UK and European Employee Engagement Awards. Chamber patron PKF Cooper Parry picked up the
awards for Employee Benefits, Employee Engagement SMB Company of the Year and the highly coveted Employee Engagement Company of the Year. After been shortlisted for five awards, the business was
joined on the podium by many high profile organisations, including the likes of the Ministry of Justice, Ocado, Odeon, Visa, Post Office, Unicef and more. The winners were announced at a gala dinner at
Twickenham Stadium, London, recently. The ceremony was hosted by BBC Radio 1’s Edith Bowman. The EEA Awards exist to inspire and educate people
to rethink the way organisations engage their people. The awards recognise organisations that create amazing experiences for their people and those that demonstrate best practice for others. Founder and CEO of EEA, Matt Manners, said:
“Special congratulations must go to our Company of the Year and three-time winner on the night, PKF Cooper Parry. This year the entries really have proven the transformational value that focusing on the employee experience can deliver. “One of our main themes of the evening was the importance of diversity to a business. In a world that seems to get more divided by the day, workplaces that create a true sense of community will transform the employee experience and the bottom line.” Partner and Chief People Officer at PKF Cooper
Parry, April Bembridge, said: “Three awards – we’re speechless. To be recognised for the work we do around rewarding and engaging our people – not just once, but three times – is fantastic. “It shows how the work we do on culture and
encouraging our people to play to their strengths is truly paying off. Thank you so much to all the judges.
Ade Cheatham, CEO at PKF Cooper Party
