Plotting new standards

Sutton Coldfield Chamber president Katie Hale and members PLOTT Creative are spearheading a drive to nurture the next generation of marketing professionals – with the creation of two new apprenticeship standards. Creative firm PLOTT are part of a ‘Trailblazer’

group that has been developing the new marketing apprenticeship standards over the past 18 months. Katie, who is a consultant for PLOTT, chaired

the group which developed and approved the Marketing Executive and Marketing Manager apprenticeships. The two apprenticeships have received

support from a host of employers including BT, Clarks International, Daimler, Experian and British Engines. PLOTT managing director Anna Plotnek said:

“We are committed to supporting next generation into the work by providing them the employability skills and capabilities they need to become confident, independent, work-ready individuals.” Sir Gerry Berragan, CEO of the Chartered Institute of Apprenticeships, said in a letter to

Plotting career paths: Anna Plotnek and Katie Hale

Katie: “A big thank you for the work that you and the other members of the marketing trailblazer group have completed to get to this point. “I recognise the significant commitment and

expertise required to develop an apprenticeship standard that meets the needs of employers, provides meaningful training and careers for apprentice’s and satisfies the apprenticeship requirements.”

Paralegal qualifies at expanding firm

A paralegal is on the way to becoming a qualified solicitor thanks to help from Sutton Coldfield-based Pickford Solicitors. Naresh Gill earned a training contract

with the firm after proving he had the makings of a corporate solicitor. First of all, Pickford Solicitors had to

satisfy the Solicitors Regulatory Authority criteria. As part of the firm’s expansion, they

launched a residential conveyancing and specialist family law departments, which helped them satisfy this criteria and become recognised training providers. Naresh is now on course to qualify as a

solicitor in July 2020 and hopes to re-join director and training principal Jas Singh as a qualified corporate solicitor. Jas said: “I am very pleased to offer

Naresh this opportunity and I look forward to watching Naresh transition from a paralegal to trainee solicitor.”
