A record number of businesses are chasing glory in the awards to be presented at the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce’s annual dinner on Thursday 11 April. Seventy-nine businesses have

been shortlisted for the 10 sector awards. The Business of the Year will be

selected from the winners of the sector categories and announced at the ICC in Birmingham. Russell Jeans, chairman of the

judges and chief operating officer at the GBCC, said: “Once again the huge number of entries demonstrates the diversity of businesses across the Greater Birmingham area. The high number of entries for this award show that there are so many vibrant businesses operating in the retail sector, even though the high-street has been experiencing a difficult

time. Our judges commented on the high calibre of entries and the Chamber thanks them for their diligence and enthusiasm in tackling what became a huge task.” HSBC, Birmingham City

University and Elonex are headline sponsors of the dinner and awards. The event host is Heart Breakfast presenter Ed James. The judging panel was: Russell

Jeans, chair; Jo Birch, Birmingham City University; Dee Kundi, VWV; Ravinder Masih, Warwickshire County Cricket Club; Zo Hoida, Browne Jacobson; and Martin Levermore, Medical Devices Technology International. The drinks reception sponsor for

the dinner is Qatar Airways, while Pinkprink is the print sponsor and Turkish Airlines is the airline sponsor.
