1st Glamorgan Rifle Volunteer Corps Officer’s Blue Cloth Helmet c. 1878-1887, a very fine and scarce example, the skull complete with all silver plated fittings, the frontal plate of unique design as the crown is replaced by the Prince of Wales’s badge and motto, laurel overlays enclose a circular strap ‘1st Glamorgan Rifle Volunteer Corps’, in the centre on a ground of black velvet a three towered castle in flames, buff leather sweatband, silk lining missing, retailed by ‘Hawkes & Co., London’, the plate is original to the helmet, together with an unnamed carrying tin, extremely fine overall condition (2)
