The West Yorkshire Regiment Officer’s Blue Cloth Helmet c. 1881 -1901, the skull complete with all gilt metal fittings, the frontal plate of crowned star pattern with laurel and Garter overlays, in the centre on a ground of black cloth the White Horse of Hanover on ground with scroll above ‘Nec Aspera Terrent’ (these probably of white metal), a silver scroll below ‘The West Yorkshire Regiment’, the plate not original to the helmet, buff leather sweatband with crimson silk lining, no gilt remains on the chin chain, front peak and spine, other elements missing from the rear peak, the spike retained by an incorrect pattern but otherwise of sound condition

The East Yorkshire Regiment, 1st Volunteer Battalion Officer’s Blue Cloth Helmet c. 1883-1901, a good quality example the blue cloth skull complete with all plated fittings, the very fine frontal plate of crowned star pattern with laurel and Garter overlays, in the centre on a ground of black patent leather an eight pointed star with rose centre, double title scroll ‘The East Yorkshire Regiment’ ‘1st Volunteer Battalion’, buff leather sweatband with crimson silk attached lining supplied by ‘Hobson & Sons, London’, the frontal plate appears to be original to the helmet, very good overall condition
