24th (2nd Royal Warwickshire) Regiment Officer’s Blue Cloth Helmet c. 1878-1881, the skull complete with all gilt metal fittings, rounded brass trimmed front peak, the very fine helmet plate of crowned star pattern with laurel and Garter overlays, in the centre on a ground of black velvet (faded to brown) a silver Sphinx/Egypt over ‘XXIV’, buff leather sweatband, the plate not original to the helmet, the spike holds the quadrant in place, the quadrant not having the correct fittings, the side ornaments of small rose and incorrect pattern, some moth damage near the rear peak otherwise sound appearance

The Gloucestershire Regiment Officer’s Blue Cloth Helmet c. 1881 -1901, the skull complete with all gilt metal fittings, the frontal plate of crowned star pattern with laurel and Garter overlays, in the centre on a ground of black velvet a silver Sphinx/Egypt, a silver scroll below ‘The Gloucestershire Regiment’, original gilt metal small size back badge applied over the spinal trim, the spike of incorrect pattern, buff leather sweatband with crimson silk lining and retailer’s details ‘Hodgson & Morgan, Woolwich’, both badges are original to the helmet, no gilt remains on any of the elements and areas are missing to the black leather rear peak trim, the front peak trim with some dents otherwise sound condition
