The Norfolk Regiment Officer’s Blue Cloth Helmet c. 1881-1901, the skull complete with all gilt metal fittings, the frontal plate of crowned star pattern with laurel and Garter overlays, in the centre on a ground of black velvet Britannia in silver, a scroll below ‘The Norfolk Regiment’, the plate not original to the helmet, buff leather sweatband and supplier’s stamp ‘Silverston, London’, no gilt remains overall, the rear peak with softening and partially buckled, moth damage around the lower bracing band

The Lincolnshire Regiment 2nd Volunteer Battalion Officer’s Green Cloth Helmet C. 1883-1901, the skull complete with all silver plated fittings, the frontal plate of crowned eight pointed star pattern with laurel and Garter overlays, in the centre on a ground of black velvet the Sphinx/Egypt, a double scroll below ‘The Lincolnshire Regt.’ and ‘2nd Volunteer Battalion’, red leather sweat band with purple silk lining and further quilted ivory coloured lining with supplier’s details ‘Cross & Morgan, Plymouth’, the plate most probably original to the helmet but the lining is still glued or sewn down, together with its japanned metal carrying tin this with painted details ‘Lt. Col. G.A. Ivatt, 2 VB The Lincoln Regt’ also with brass plaque for M.Wiseman, Military Tailor, Sackville Street, London, a similar trade label is inside the lid of the tin which is also inscribed in longhand ‘Col. Ivatt’, loss of pile to the green cloth body and some small moth holes reasonably repaired otherwise very fine condition
