The Dorsetshire Regiment a Victorian Period Officer’s Blue Cloth Helmet, a good quality example complete with all gilt metal fittings, the frontal plate of crowned star pattern with laurel and Garter overlays, in the centre on a ground of black velvet Gibraltar Castle with a scroll above ‘Primus In Indis’, below a further scroll ‘Montis Insignia Calpe’, below the Garter a silver scroll ‘The Dorsetshire Regiment’, complete with buff leather sweat band and crimson silk lining, retailed by ‘Eade, Peckover & Co., 27a, Sackville St., London’, together with a japanned metal carrying tin this with brass plaque ‘W.Bass.Esq.’, the frontal plate in near mint condition, all other gilt fittings devoid of gilt, the plate appears to be the second one applied to the helmet, the helmet otherwise in good condition, the tin with two dents
