After 10 years writing this Health & beauty column for By the Dart, Rowena is moving on, but leaves us with some top tips and words of wisdom.

subject of mine to write about. I merrily tell you to not stuff handfuls of canapés into your mouths but to consider your choices. I wonder if anyone of you has ever thought ‘Hmm sausage roll bad, carrot stick good’ then actually chosen the carrot? It is a season traditionally meant to be full of feasting and over indulgence - I am not a total Grinch… With so much to worry about on a day to day ba- sis the excuse to relax and let go is a fabulous oppor- tunity to really take stock of what is important to you. If you want to binge watch The Crown or read the latest John Grisham make sure you take the time. Frankly most of us find it easy to do something for someone else then make excuses for why we are not worth it!

for the holiday season is a noble thought and goodness knows we have enough TV programmes tell- ing us how to do that. And an equal amount of programmes pointing out how to eat well for less. Both wonder- ful points of view but when time is of the essence one must pick one’s battles. If you enjoy making complicated stuffings

Decorations are the best part of the whole season for me. I have been collecting for years and love getting them all out and remembering the past. I always buy a few new ones and my tree groans under the weight of baubles from the Christmas market in Vienna and from just around the corner. Of course, not all of them make the cut as colour themes come and go. Just as they do in make up and other bathroom products. Pink and grey are very in for all things this season. We are drawn to

then Bravo - go for it! But if you cannot be bothered then a packet is not the end of the world. If you shop wisely and pounce on the offers that most supermar- kets routinely have in the run up to the big day, and you have a freezer that will accommodate it all, then you will be eating well for less. I fully confess to buying those pastry based canapés that you can fling in the

Next time you are out shopping keep a tally of how many times you reach for some- thing that is a rectangle or a square etc. This very subtle choice that you make without realising it may be stopping you from looking at things based entirely on shape! I have it on good authority from a Creative Director of a major high street pharmacy that women like rectangle compacts more than square! I hope you enjoy your Christmas and get presents in the right shapes! I wanted to leave you with some top tips and words of wisdom as a present from me... Yes, you guessed it my last chance
