‘TIS THE SEASON TO

SHOP… ….and we have a few new shops on the block! On Foss Street The Owl & The Pussycat has found a home at number 17 selling a beautiful range of giftware and homeware (see advert on page 78). Bert & Buoy has opened its first flagship store in the old fishmonger’s on Fairfax Place, showcasing British nautical and locally themed homeware and art by local designer, Bert Fowler. The Dartmouth theme also features at JackSpeak on Lower Street with their clothing collection for Men, Women and Children. The Market is gearing up for the famous Fatstock Show on 11 December – a great opportunity to support the local farming community and no better way of buying local. Meanwhile the newest addition to the shops in the square is Hallsands Hidden Treasures stocked

with unique, recycled artwork inspired

Don’t forget that Bushells Riverside has now reopened and is open throughout the day and evening with a menu featuring seasonal and local produce (see advert page 30). There’s fun and frivolity in

Rob

Foss Street on Sunday 23rd December (see page 69). Music, entertainment, spot the Christmas oddity, goodies galore and even snow! The party kicks off at 11am. Finally, if you’re looking for Santa

more stylish ladies’ clothes and accessories to brighten up any wardrobe. And to complete that party look why not drop into the new Pure Indulgence Salon and Barber on Victoria Road. All the bars and restaurants in

town are gearing up for the festive season with special menus and

in Dartmouth over the festive season check out the new pop-up bar The Sail Loft at the end of Foss Street as it’s rumoured he’ll be dropping in during December. (Check facebook page to book) There’s also plenty of opportunities to support local businesses at a number of Christmas Fairs around Dartmouth. For further information on them and other festive events, concerts and pantomines check the www. bythedart.co.uk website.

HAPPY TRAILS...

A major contribution to the success of By The Dart over the past 10 years has been the many people who have volunteered their services to write for the magazine. One of the earliest was our friend, Rowena Kitchen who has contributed a Health & Beauty column for all but one of our 86 issues!). Rowena’s entertaining writing style and sensible advice has been much appreciated. Unfortunately, Rowena is now moving on - her final column is published on page 92. Our thanks and best wishes to Rowena.

If there’s anyone out there who would like to take her place then do please get in touch.
