Bath University area athletics trials
In the summer term Abbeyfield took 18 of its elite athletes to Bath University for the Bath University Area Trials.
This event enables students to get personal bests and compete with other athletes from other schools in Wiltshire.
If successful on the day, they qualify for the Wiltshire Schools Athletic Association Championships in June.
This day will saw many of Wiltshire’s top athletes racing trying to get a place in the Wiltshire Team and competing in the Nationals in June. The weather on the day was perfect, calm conditions
great for middle distance runners and field events. Lots of tough competition and some students getting PBs on the day, we are delighted to say 6 students from Abbeyfield have made it through for a chance to try and make it into the Wiltshire team.

Netball Academy Success for Lucy McMullen
Lucy McMullen has recently joined the U14 Satellite Netball Academy. Lucy will have to attend several training sessions and complete in addition 80 minutes of dynamic stretches a week.
Lucy will have to try out every year to stay in the Satellite Academy and continue developing her talent. Lucy has also joined Raychem Netball Club based in Swindon. In which Lucy’s U12 team have achieved success and recently won the league. Lucy also played a major part in a recent tournament showing real stamina by playing every game and helped her team to victory.
Lucy was invited to attend a two day Team Bath netball camp. The first day was a day Lucy would remember as she went onto beat Team Bath’s main Goal Shooters of Rosie Allison and Shaunagh Craig in the shooting game “killer”.

Bethan Everett plays in the Barcelona Cup girl’s
football tournament
Barcelona girls cup
Earlier this year in June, I left Wiltshire to get on a plane to Spain to play in the Barcelona cup girls football tournament with my Swindon Town girls centre of excellence team. On the way to our hotel we stopped at Camp Nou (Barcelona football team’s stadium) for a tour... It was fantastic!
Team Bath Player Shaunagh Craig Team Bath Player Rosie Allison
We played 2 days of football matches in the tournament (and heat!), during our free time I made the most of the beach, swimming pool and hotel facilities.
Teams we played were from all over Europe, in our group were teams from Spain, Denmark and Finland. We came 3rd in our age group which we are very proud of. The weekend was a fantastic opportunity and I had a brilliant time with my team mates and coaches. At the end of the weekend we had a presentation where I received the Finnish pennant for player of the match. I have recently successfully trialled again for the girls centre for football excellence with Swindon Town.
Next season I hope to either go again to Barcelona or maybe Sweden to play in the Gothia cup.
