Rugby star Danielle Waterman was our Sporting Champion for the day. She was one of the key players in the 2014 England World Cup winning team.

She started playing rugby at the young age of five and was a real inspiration for the young athletes.

Multiple Guinness World Record holders Tom ‘Conman’ Connors and Ash ‘Freestyle’ Randall performed at the Opening Ceremony with an impressive showcase of Freestyling and Street Basketball skills and antics involving students and teachers. Goddard Park Community Primary School performed

a dance routine based on choreography about Super Mario computer games. The costumes were amazing and everyone enjoyed the colourful performance.

We were joined on the day by Justin Tomlinson MP along with Leader of the Council Councillor David Renard who enjoyed being able to see the School Games at first hand. The Mayor of Swindon, Councillor Andrew Bennett, Ian Jankinson Board Member of WASP and member of the Swindon Sports Forum also joined us on the day and were proud to award medals to the successful young athletes.
