Covenant receives global backing
AFL PLANit Global, based at Wolverhampton Science Park, have become the latest company to sign the Armed Forces Covenant. Lieutenant Colonel Fraser Cuttle,
Commanding Officer of 4 MERCIAN, co-signed the certificate with PLANit Global’s CEO David Darlaston. Lt Colonel Cuttle said: “I am very
glad to be signing the Armed Forces Covenant with PLANit Global. “The Armed Forces are only as
strong as the community that supports them, which is why these links are so important.” The ceremony also welcomed
Armed Forces officials from the Navy and Army, Warrant Officer John Thacher, Leading Hand Edmund Grandison and Warrant Officer 1 Tony Hopkins. Malcolm Cowgill, interim principal
from City of Wolverhampton College and Sam Axtell, consultation and community involvement officer from City of Wolverhampton Council also attended the ceremony. David Darlaston, CEO of PLANit
Global, an online careers platform, said: “PLANit Global are delighted to sign the Armed Forces Covenant to support all military personnel to help them build on the unique skills they have acquired through service and develop their careers in the commercial world.”

Digital transformation for NEC
The NEC are investing more than £4m in new displays as part of a “digital revolution” which will transform the look and feel of the site. The new digital displays will enhance the on-site
experience for the seven million people who visit the NEC campus annually. The first step in the transformation –
which began in January and will last 18 months – is the installation of 185 high- specification LED and Large Format Display (LFD) technology screens at key locations throughout the site. The displays, which are being installed
by audio visual firm Anna Valley, can be used for a variety of purposes including wayfinding, advertising and information to help create an end-to-end experience for visitors. Kathryn James (pictured), managing director for
NEC Group Conventions and Exhibitions, said: “We are committed to continuously improving the customer experience and the digital project has been driven by customer-focussed research. We asked visitors, exhibitors and organisers what would make

their NEC experience even better – and the results have helped us shape the whole programme. “We found that visitors wanted more directional
signage and information that related to what else they can do on campus. “Thanks to this future-looking project, we can now excite visitors about the event they are attending from the moment they arrive, but also help provide essential information about their visit. “This means they can keep their focus
on the event they are attending and also enjoy everything the NEC campus has to
offer.” So far, digital displays have been installed at
key entrance points throughout the venue. These include the bridge link entrance from Birmingham International train station, hall entrances and the roundabout at the main Piazza entrance. The latter has been transformed with 170 square
meters of Unilumin LED displays. Future installations include in-hall catering outlets, car park pathways and roads leading into site.

Mondelez appoints managing director
Louise Stigant (pictured) has been appointed as managing director of Mondelez UK. She joined
Mondelez in 1994 through the Kraft business and brings with her a wealth of experience, having worked across a variety of channels, categories and markets. She has held a number of key
leadership positions within the business, including managing director of Mondelez Ireland and most recently managing director of the meals category for Northern Europe. In this role, she had overall
responsibility for the marketing and innovation agenda for brands such as Philadelphia and Dairylea.
