CA7028 from AEMC is a hand-held structured cable mapping and troubleshooting tester designed for use on UTP, STP, FTP, and SSTP cabling equipped with RJ-45 connec- tors and wired to either TIA568A/B ISO11801 and EN 50137, USOC or ISDN specifications. It detects open circuit pairs, shorts, crossed wires, crossed pairs, reversed pairs, split pairs and shield faults. The Model CA7028 also has the


ability to identify telephone and data lines. If the main unit is plugged into an operational RJ-45 socket, it will give a continuous warning tone and display if a telephone voltage is present on any of the pins. In-Line Disconnect Switch products with the addition of the WADM795 switch line. The product line now accommodates conductors from 1/0 ACSR to 795 (36/1) ACSR, originally 556 ACSR. The new switches still use the bolted wedge hybrid connector combined with industry stan- dard components, making them especially useful for hot stick and gloved applica- tions. The Bolted Wedge In-Line Switch uses dual insulators to minimize switch movement during opening and closing of the blade. Installation steps are kept to a minimum because the switch can be snapped directly onto the line and secured with the BURNDY conductor pivot retainer. This retainer acts as a third hand to free up the line worker’s hands to safely install the connectors. The BURNDY bolted wedge connec- tors use bolted technology to provide

a highly reliable mechanical and electrical connection and combines it with sliding wedge technology to ensure the connection stays tight even if the line experiences high mechanical loads. The hybrid design also takes some of the guess work out of tightening the hard- ware. transportable – it will fit into an average- sized car – and easy to operate, even for inexperienced users, the EZ-THUMP V2 is an ideal choice for first responders, but its extensive capabilities mean that it is also well suited to more demanding applications. The EZ-THUMP V2 incorporates a


single-stage capacitor surge discharge system that delivers 500 J at 12 kV. This is partnered by an integrated time-domain reflectometer (TDR), which facilitates pre-location of low-resistance faults and, by using the arc-reflection method (ARM),


high-resistance faults. In addition, the EZ-THUMP V2 can be used in conjunction with an acoustic/electromagnetic receiver to pinpoint the precise location of faults. Sheath testing and sheath fault location are also supported. Advanced safety features provided by the instrument include the F-OHM sys- tem that automatically checks that earth connections have been made correctly and inhibits testing if it detects a problem & facilities for connecting external safety devices such as warning beacons and emergency stop pushbut- tons.
