Power generation in Poland & the influence of Scania engines

The purchase of hundreds of Scania engines in the last two years has helped make FOGO Poland’s leading manufacturer of power generators, explains Danny Chapman in this special WIP profile.

T

he purchase of hundreds of Scania engines in the last two years has

helped make FOGO Poland’s leading manufacturer of power generators, explains Danny Chapman. Tomasz Blaszak, is the owner

of the FOGO company, based in Wilkowice in western Poland, midway between Poznan and Wroclaw. “Our moment of inspiration was generated over concerns over the millennium bug. I realised then that we are a society which cannot exist without electricity,” he explains. “So the idea came to not only

sell power generators but to start producing them as well.” Since then, FOGO (a name which stands for ‘Focussed On Generators Only’) has developed a wide range of power products. In 2006,

“Initially, FOGO purchased 28 Scania 13 & 16-litre engines and within a year had bought more than 200 engines from across the Scania range.”

FOGO began supplying to international companies, with a focus on Russia, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, the Czech Republic and West and South Africa. In 2015 the company began

working with Scania – a move which has helped it to maintain its leading role in power generator manufacturing as well ensuring that customers have the best aftersales service. Initially, FOGO purchased 28 Scania 13- and 16-litre engines and within a year had bought more than 200 engines from

across the Scania range. Similar numbers of deliveries took place in 2017. FOGO has praised Scania

engines for their ‘sound construction, excellent reliabil- ity, step load performance and low fuel consumption. The well-developed Scania after-

sales network has also been of huge value to FOGO. A Scania workshop has been built just a 10-minute drive away from FOGO’s premises. The company says it ‘gains additional confidence from having parts and technical help on the doorstep.”
