POWER INDUSTRY AWARDS - THE CP&De Conference & Exhibition
Mecc Alte received Award for Excellence & Commitment in Training & Development
Mecc Alte UK won an important industry
accolade at the Critical Power & Decentralised Energy event. It won the Power Industry Award for Excellence and Commitment in Training & Development. This award recognises the manufacturer’s endeavour and quality of training which combines practical and theoretical courses. The Mecc Alte training programme has been in operation for several years and has seen many engineers and technicians walk through the doors. Candidates, including seasoned onsite
operators and apprentices within the power sector, gain essential skills and experience in the field of mission critical alternator technology, direct from the manufacturer. Students who attend courses also have
the added advantage of visiting the state- of-the-art production facility, where they can see first-hand the manufacture and build processes. Andrew Bell, Managing Director, Mecc Alte UK said: “As the world’s largest independent manufacturer, we develop strategic partnerships and work closely with our clients, customers and end users. Our relationships, combined with our independent values, puts us in an enviable position. It means we have access to a

wealth of data, technology and expertise within the power generation and electromechanical sectors.” A modular syllabus provides a solid
platform with engineers, designers and technicians from a raft of UK and worldwide companies, receiving ‘hands- on’ and tailored content which aligns with the individual client’s level of expertise. Training topics start at a basic level exploring alternator theory and principles including brushless verses brushed design benefits. Throughout the day candidates are provided with an in-depth overview of alternator construction including winding configurations and excitation systems, along with more advanced technical areas.
FG Wilson wins key Worldwide Network &
Supplier Award at CP&De It’s not a suprise that FG Wilson won the
Worldwide Network Supplier Award. In a recent interview Ann Brown, Managing Director of FG Wilson, commented: “You could sum us up in three words: products, dealers and support.” Across the entire product range, FG Wilson

takes the same approach to product design and launch, whether the generator set is large or small. Nothing is released for sale until it has been rigorously tested, validated and a full suite of parts is ready for customers. Dealer support is backed up by a parts operation stocking more than 11,500 parts products and delivering up to 3 million parts a year. There is a vast number of prod- ucts to support: since 1990, which is as far back as their IT systems can report, over 600,000 FG Wilson generator sets have been installed worldwide. If you lined up every one of them, you could ‘power an entire country the size of the UK’, says the company. Supporting FG Wilson products is a network of dealers built up over decades.
