Neville James Patton served during the Second World War as an Air Gunner with No. 61 Squadron (Manchesters), Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, and was killed in action along with his whole crew on 7 April 1942. Taking off from R.A.F. Woolfox Lodge at 00:35 bound for Essen, their Manchester was shot down by an enemy night-fighter and crashed at Piringen, Limburg, 3 km east-north-east of Tongeren, Belgium. He is buried alongside his crew in Heverlee War Cemetery, Belgium.
Sold together with a silver and silver-gilt fob engraved ‘N.J.P.’; and an unrelated prize medal showing the Sphinx and Pyramids, this unnamed.

Lionel Goldman was born in Benoni, Transvaal, on 27 February 1914, and served in civilian life as a Solicitor in Johannesburg. Following the outbreak of the Second World War he attested for the 1st Mounted Regiment, South African Forces, at Johannesburg on 17 May 1940, and was promoted Sergeant on 1 October 1940. Seconded to the South African Intelligence Corps on 13 December 1941, he served with them in Egypt from 4 April 1942 to 1 January 1943, before being discharged medically unfit on 11 December 1943.

Khazan Singh served from the inception of the Indian Army Veterinary Corps on 14 December 1920, when numbers commenced for Indian other ranks at V 1000. Awarded his Meritorious Service Medal prior to the Second World War, he retired as a Veterinary Assistant Surgeon, before being re-employed as a Jemadar on the active list from 6 May 1943, serving with the 21 Kohat Mountain Battery in Burma until 1945.
Kenneth Robert Hiscock was born in Agra, India, in 1911, the son of Sergeant Earnest Hiscock, Royal Field Artillery.
Atwar Singh was born in Ludhiana on 7 February 1911 and graduated from the Punjab Veterinary College, Lahore in 1934. He entered Government Service and served as a Veterinary Assistant Surgeon in the Punjab. He was advanced Warrant Officer, 27 June 1941; a Viceroy Commissioned Officer on 1 November 1941, and was granted an Emergency Commission on 13 March 1944. He served during the Second World War with the Mesopotamian Expeditionary Force in Persia from 4 February 1942 to 2 May 1943 and in The Arakan from 17 November 1943 to 18 March 1944. He retired on 7 February 1965.
