FIRM WORKS ON
NEW PROJECTS A software development house has taken on two exciting new projects.
Dvelop.IT is working on two new
mobile apps – one for businesses and one for consumers. Business development manager
Ashley Carter said: “Apps are becoming an increasingly popular way to streamline your business, to reach out to clients and to provide faster and slicker functions within your business. In addition they will help create great brand awareness. “It’s a great way to set yourself
apart from your competitors as well as helping a start-up business get off the ground. “Apps can typically cost anything
from £10,000 to £100,000. Whatever the cost though, you can be sure that it will offer a far higher ROI than you’d expect and also gives your business the boost it needs. “Due to the increase in demand
for our apps and of course our high- quality software, we are now also recruiting for two new members of staff on the technical side. “We can’t wait to find some
dynamic new starters and get them building software that will change how you work forever.”

MACS SOFTWARE MAKES THE SWITCH TO THE CLOUD
MACS Software Ltd, one of the UK’s leading global suppliers of warehouse management solutions, is currently migrating its software from a windows-based desktop application to a web-based cloud or on-premise solution. Beta testing with customers is scheduled for March 2018. With technology moving at ever
increasing speeds, the logistics industry battles to meet customers’ service level expectations whilst keeping prices low. To support these constant demands, MACS Software’s development roadmap aims to utilise the latest technologies to provide the end user with a more intuitive, robust and faster experience. Acknowledging that its customers have differing

requirements and access to varying resources, MACS Software customers will have the opportunity to remain with a desktop application – linked to a local server – or migrate to the cloud. While looking to the future, 2017 also saw the
successful introduction of its v-MACSwms stand- alone voice system, the upgrade of the integration between MACSwms and the Linnworks web-based e-commerce platform and highly sophisticated interfaces with Amazon and Tesco Click & Collect. Esther Dutton of MACS Software said: “The needs of
the end-user continue to be paramount in terms of functionality and user experience. We will continue to try and lead the way on this joint front. It’s a question of style with substance rather than style over substance.”

REAPING THE BENEFITS OF APPRENTICESHIPS
CTR Future design and manufacture laser machines in Northampton for a wide range of applications, firmly believing in the business benefits from their partnership with Northampton College’s apprenticeship scheme. Apprentices participate in the

ongoing activities of the company and have the opportunity to become full time employees. The apprenticeships have allowed the firm to grow and develop its talent, providing a structured approach to that development. The laser industry is quite specialised and it has proven difficult to find employees with the necessary skillset. Modern apprenticeships
have enabled the company to fulfil this requirement. Its first apprentice, Ashley
Barker, completed Engineering Level 3 two years ago. Managing director Neil Pritchett
said: “We were fortunate to have Ashley as our first apprentice. His success paved the way for our future commitment to the Apprenticeship Scheme. We have apprentices studying Engineering Level 3; Krzysztof Bukolt, Louis Boardman and Benjamin Ryan, with Ashley as their mentor.” In addition Katie Mason has
completed administration level 2 and has accepted a full-time position within CTR.
