BUSINESS REPORT SECURITY IS

ESSENTIAL A business IT supplier and solutions provider has become a Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus certifying body to help the UK SME sector protect itself from cyber attacks. Redpalm Technology

Services’ became involved in the Government-led Cyber Essentials scheme because it is focused on making the UK a safe place to trade and do business in the digital age. The scheme is essentially a

badge, which organisations use to demonstrate to customers, partners, insurers and investors that they have taken measures to secure their information and operations. Senior account manager

Gary Puddephatt said: “We can perform a security review and risk assessment to help organisations determine which activities, controls, practises and certifications are right for mitigating the risks within their unique environment.”

HIGH PRAISE FOR LIZ AS SHE SETS THE STANDARD

Liz Brewster, client project manager at Elsby & Co, has achieved a world first by completing Xero Migration Certification, a new standard recognising her ability to help businesses reduce the pressures of record keeping and use accounting information to drive decision- making. Xero, global specialists in online

accounting, were so impressed with Liz’s achievement that Julian Buck, Xero director of UK services, travelled to Elsby’s Rushden offices to surprise her with the Award. The certification is aimed at

Xero’s partners who want to migrate their customer base over to Xero and it fully prepares them to plan, prioritise and transfer their clients’ data. Businesses are shifting their tax

affairs online ahead of HMRC’s ‘Making Tax Digital’ (MTD) initiative, which requires all companies and landlords with a turnover above the VAT threshold (currently £85,000) to use appropriate accounting software by April 2019. After this there will be a phased timetable for other businesses to

Liz Brewster and Julian Buck from Xero

comply in the same manner, beginning in 2020. The process will make tax reporting and billing more accurate by allowing businesses to update and access their financial information on a ‘live’ basis. Liz said: “20% of VAT returns are

already being filed using Xero and there are now over 250,000

organisations using the system in the UK. Elsby & Co is firmly behind the process of migrating businesses to meet MTD requirements.”
