DALEPAK REBRANDS AS CYGNIA

BUSINESS REPORT A LESSON IN

WELLBEING A social entrepreneur has helped staff and students at the University of Northampton to learn how to improve their personal well-being. Natasha Tyrell combined her

experience of working in corporate global businesses with her voluntary work supporting vulnerable people to form Genii Home Care and Lifestyle Services in 2015, which provides tailored care services to vulnerable adults. Natasha has also formed ties with

the university, sponsoring courses and speaking at events, and last month she delivered a presentation to students and staff during the university’s Wellbeing Day. Natasha said: “I spent more than

Third-party logistics firm Dalepak has rebranded as Cygnia Logistics. Prompted by a change in ownership, and the

appointment of a new senior management team in 2016, the new identity denotes what the business feels is core to what it does. Chief executive Nick Frogbrook said:

“We will continue to invest in the business, expanding further our capability into Europe to become the leading mid-market provider in our industry. “We felt it was right to ensure our

brand truly reflected this, but also to act as a catalyst for change as we grow and evolve to meet our clients’ changing needs.” Cygnia, the Latin word for ‘Swan’, is

appropriate for several reasons: as a sign of transformation to reflect the company’s desire to continually evolve; to reflect the constant agility and responsiveness that is key to the business; the ability to

travel over water, on land, and in the air; and because swans partner for life, as an aspiration for its employee- client relationships. The company’s head office is also in the Swan Valley. The business is a £50m turnover company employing more than 800 staff during peak times. It undertakes fulfilment across the full range of retail channels and provides services from warehousing, distribution, packing and freight-forwarding for blue-chip companies in the automotive, cosmetics, home, gifting and other

retail sectors. It was recognised in a league table identifying the UK’s top 200 mid-market private companies with the fastest-growing

international sales, won the SHD magazine’s Logistics Award for Growth and awards from the UK Warehousing Association, and appeared in the LSE’s 1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain.

SILVER LEVEL AS FIRM INVESTS IN PEOPLE

Leading county practice GSSArchitecture has achieved Silver level accreditation following its latest “Investors in People” assessment. GSS first gained recognition in 1997 and became one of the first UK

architectural practices to receive this accolade. It has been re-assessed every three years and the detailed assessment involved interviews with staff, partners and senior managers as well as an online questionnaire that received 100% participation. This was well above the international Investors in People guideline indicating a high level of engagement. GSS partner William Assheton explained: “The Investors in People

standard helps to link people development and skills acquisition to the specific aims and objectives of a business. By assessing and improving the performance of employees, Investors in People provides a framework to help businesses manage change and enhance success. “We understand that companies recognised as Investors in People

consistently outperform non-recognised competitors.” The certification forms part of the practice’s Integrated Management

System (IMS), which also includes Occupational Health and Safety Management System and Cyber Essentials PLUS certification. The practice also operates a Quality Management System and an Environmental Management System covering all aspects of business.

20 years working in senior executive positions for global businesses across five industries, but I have also been heavily involved in philanthropy since the age of 10. “I formed Genii Home Care and

Lifestyle Services to help vulnerable adults live life and love life because our philosophy is people are everything. “That is also the reason that I

have formed such strong ties with the university. I regularly speak at their Changemaker events and sponsor their Product Design undergraduate courses. I was delighted to be asked to speak at their Wellbeing Day about my corporate career and how I became a social entrepreneur.”
