‘Embracing Cloud- based technology gives recruiters the opportunity to access their talent pools when they most need it; anywhere, anytime and on a wide range of devices’

Tap into technology to help fill vacancies

By David Orange (pictured), Sales and Marketing Director, Talk Staff Group

Technology, “the collection of techniques, skills, methods, and processes used in the accomplishment of objectives”, is a subject that is loved and hated by many industries across the world. It’s hardly surprising that in the current landscape of multi-generations (Gen X, Gen Y, Xennials and Millennials), any growth-focused talent strategy has already started to tip in the favour of pro-technology. The truth is that within growing, scalable people

consultancies, recruitment agencies and internal recruitment departments, one thing is very evident - technology is being used in almost every aspect of the recruitment process, from sourcing, nurturing and developing talent pools, managing recruitment processes through to background checking and invoicing. It’s true to say that mobile, social and Cloud-based

technologies have taken traditional recruitment processes from a desk and paper-based activity through to a dynamic, free-flowing and, in many ways, very intuitive business processes. The hiring process is and should always be people-centric, something that many argue is taken away using cold-fronted

technology, but those with this opinion should take time to reflect and see technology as an opportunity to make processes more efficient, rather than replace them entirely. In the recruitment industry, there are numerous opportunities being presented that are made possible by embracing this technology.

ACCESSIBILITY: MOBILE With a people-centric hiring process, it’s important to look at behaviours of the generations we are engaging with. Xennials and Millennials are massive ambassadors of mobile technology, and as such these candidates expect the job searching process to be both quick and convenient but also engaging. In a recent Indeed.com survey, 66% of all job seekers are

now using smartphones to hunt for a job, however less than half of recruitment agency websites and application processes are mobile optimised. It is widely believed there will be a 75% Millennial

workforce by 2025 – if a business wants to be attracting and nurturing top talent in just eight years’ time, then they must get ahead of the game now.
