LOROS’ Big Day Out brings in the crowds
LOROS’ Big Day Out saw more than triple the amount of people visit the hospice compared to last year and raised nearly £11,000 in what was a hugely successful event for the charity. Complete with live music
throughout the day, a pop-up bar and a range of craft and food stalls, the day drew in a total of 2,585 visitors. The Big Day Out at LOROS,
which raised just over £10,800, included fun activities for all the family, giving visitors the chance to see what a hospice really looks like from the inside. Yasmin Mears, who helped
organise the event, said: “We were overwhelmed with the number of people who visited our Big Day Out. We are extremely pleased to reveal that we tripled visiting numbers, after 800 people came to the event last year. And, while the amount of money raised was a bonus and the total was completely unexpected, the main aim of the event was to raise awareness of the work LOROS does and dispel some of the myths surrounding hospice care.”

Fellow event organiser, Sophie
Quinn, added: “On behalf of The Big Day Out team, we would like to thank every single person who visited, as well as our wonderful volunteers, staff members and stall holders who helped make the day such a success.”
Cosby United Football Club is looking forward to a successful 2017/18 season both on and off the pitch, thanks to much-needed sponsorship from Leicester-based Total Motion. Support from the vehicle management company means the club, which
had been struggling financially, can continue to compete in the Leicestershire District League. As part of the deal, Total Motion is covering all of Cosby United FC’s
running costs, including paying for the team kit, training kits and training equipment and facilities. It is also funding extras such as referee costs and kit washes. Total Motion also hopes that its sponsorship deal will lead to job and
apprenticeship opportunities for young players who are looking to go into careers in the competitive motor sector. Simon Hill, Managing Director of Total Motion and a committed football
fan, said: “We’re so happy to give something back to the local community by keeping this prestigious football club running. We wish the team all the very best in its 2017/18 campaign.”
