Rock and Roll Robotics Ages 8-12

Create robots that rock and robots that roll! Using the LEGO WeDo Robotics System your robots will include a monkey who plays a drum to a rock & roll beat, a lion that roars, a bird that flaps it wings to create a big wind, a sleeping giant who will awaken on your command and a boat that will rock on the rough seas. This course builds knowledge of simple machines, engineering, programming, and teamwork in an environment full of Rockin Fun! Students will work in teams of two.

Join in the fun with beginning riding lessons! Dunham Woods Farm is a superior equestrian facility dedicated to providing the best lessons and horse care instruction available for over 50 years. Our teachings are based on tradition and looking to the future. Learn the proper way to groom, tack and handle horses. In the saddle, learn the basics of riding at the walk and trot. Lessons will be held in our indoor arena during inclement weather. The first day of class is orientation and groundwork. Riders should wear jeans or Jodhpur pants and hard-soled riding or hiking boots with a small, low heel. Bring an approved riding helmet or bicycle helmet. An exhilarating, cutting-edge area of engineering. Design, build and test various circuits and electronic projects. Discover core concepts of electrical engineering, with an introduction to circuits and electrical components. Hands-on projects and experiments will explore how electricity is part of our daily lives. No previous experience is necessary, just a desire to learn and build. Projects will include various sound producing circuits, musical instruments, a simulated telephone, and even a radio... and radio station! Each student will receive an award on the last day of the session, as well as the opportunity to earn Energy Belts to demonstrate their learned skills!

Learn to create 3D games and challenge your friends. We will be creating games for the PC version of Kodu, Microsoft’s award- winning game design platform. Students will learn the art of rapid game design and develop an understanding of underlying game mechanics. Students can choose from 20 different game characters including flying saucers, submarines, and a Pac- Man-like Kodu character then use an interactive terrain editor, a bridge and path builder, and other tools to create their 3D game world. Kodu is available as a free download for Windows. Bring a USB drive on the last day or games can be emailed to parents.
