Independent Schools
Be an independent girl T
here has been a hive of activity at one small school in Droitwich Spa this Sum-
mer. Formerly Dodderhill School, Dodderhill Independent Girls has been undergoing some exciting redevelopment, with refreshed and upgraded facilities for pupils to return to this month. While the heart and philosophy of this lovely little school remains the same, the year groups will now be structured into Pre-Prep, Prep and Senior sections, in common with other independent schools in the area. Pupils will continue to enjoy the opportunity to participate in a range of activities, from coding to swimming, performing arts les- sons by LAMDA-qualified instruc- tors, forest school and volleyball. All of this activity and the lovely grounds complement rigorous teaching in small classes, designed to challenge those pupils who are academically gifted and provide tailored support to all. The quality of teaching and
learning was recently independ- ently verified by both OFSTED and ISI inspections, with the school
retaining the highest ratings of ‘Ex- cellent’ and ‘Outstanding’ respec- tively across all areas (March 2017). Research suggests that (unlike in
girls’ schools), in a typical co-edu- cational environment, the confi- dence levels of teenage girls tend be significantly lower than those of their male peers (ISA 2017). This is not the case at Dodderhill Inde- pendent Girls. With space to try new things, get involved and build confidence, girls aim high and go on to stand out from the crowd. Many will secure scholarships
at leading sixth form colleges, progressing to universities such as Oxford and Cambridge to study engineering, veterinary medicine and music to name a few exam- ples. As the new name suggests, at
Dodderhill Independent Girls each pupil is provided with all of the tools she needs to truly become an “Independent Girl”. To enquire about a place for your
daughter, please visit dodderhill.
