CROWN MEADOW First School in Alvechurch celebrated its 50th birthday in style, with staff and pupils dressing in fashions from the past five decades – with some very inventive outfits! The children also performed dance routines to iconic songs from each period.


50 FABULOUS YEARS Two former head teachers joined


the celebrations: Mrs Davies, the very first head from 1967, and Mrs Kift, predecessor to current head Janette Morris. They had plenty of stories to tell, including the tale of how the fire brigade once had to carry children across the flooded playground to en-


sure they were able to attend school. “I want to say a huge thank you


to every member of our school community for making the event so memorable,” says Janette Morris. “It is amazing to imagine what could happen to Crown Meadow in another 50 years!”
