Land protection hoops in the wrong location
Traveller barrier bungle T
here was confusion among some residents in early July when “land protection hoops” were
erected by a small piece of land op- posite Royal Worcester Crescent on Regents Park Road. It later transpired that these rail-
ings, erected to prevent travellers from accessing land on the estate, were placed at the entrance to the wrong piece of grassland. Upon returning from holiday, Coun Caroline Spencer immediately contacted the head of department at Bromsgrove District Council and arranged a meet- ing to discuss the error. She was reassured that further site
protection hoops were available and would be installed on the correct land on Regents Park Road. Coun Spencer said that following
Sarah Rees reports from the Oakalls and Parklands.
a site visit and risk assessment held in 2016, she was pleased that the high-risk areas had been identified. The open grassed area where the site protection hoops were incorrectly erected was in fact assessed as a medium risk area. A pathway for this area was just about wide enough for a caravan to gain access, leading to a further open area which could ac- commodate several caravans. Coun Spencer added: “Although assessed as a medium risk area, at least there are now site protection
measures in place enabling extra peace of mind for residents.” Additional protection hoops have
now been erected in the correct location.
POSTAL DELIVERY ERROR A Parklands resident received a card in error in July. The address was that of the resident, but it was for some- one called Mrs G Wardle. The resident has lived at the property for more than 14 years and has no knowledge of a previous owner by this name. If anyone knows Mrs G Wardle, please contact us and we will try to get the card to the correct recipient.

Margaux Franken, Matt Smart and Jack Smart
SIX YOUNG musicians from the estate took part in their first live gig as members of a Bromsgrove Rock School which launched earlier this year. Jake and Harry Longley, Jack and Matt
Smart, and Dylan and Oscar Rees were among 12 youngsters who performed to a packed audience at The Swan Inn, Upton Warren. Matt, aged 15, said: “I’ve had drum tuition
for eight years but joining the Rock School gave me a fantastic opportunity to play with other people. I really enjoyed the gig.” The bands will be performing again on
Sunday October 1 at the Belbroughton Scarecrow Festival.
