Cuisine crosses cultures A


ward-winning chef Lorenzo Richards dished up a selection of cross-culture fusion food at a


special VIP event at his restaurant, The Wildmoor Oak, near Bromsgrove. After a Caribbean Bellini drinks


reception, Lorenzo provided canapés including pumpkin rice arancini balls, jerk Scotch eggs, and ackee and saltfish bami stacks. The event was held to launch Cul-


ture Cooking Expo, the UK’s largest indoor African and Caribbean Food and Drink Expo, which is open to the public and takes place in Birmingham from September 29 to October 1.

The Expo brings together celebrity


chefs and restaurants to help raise the profile of the diversity of African and Caribbean cuisine. The event will provide a platform for positioning African and Caribbean cuisine as a mainstream fine dining alternative to the popular ethnic foods that have monopolised the UK restaurant scene for many decades. Personalities associated with the


event include award-winning master chef Collin Brown, who will have one of six fully operational pop-up restaurants at the Expo. English sculptor Willard Wigan MBE and Jamaican celebrity chef Rustie Lee have both endorsed Lorenzo’s role in the project. For more information or to book
