OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION TO PHARMACY
The Outstanding Contribution to Pharmacy Award showcases and celebrates achievement among the community pharmacy sector in Scotland.
As well as highlighting the ever- increasing contribution that pharmacists make in the wider healthcare arena, this award is aimed at identifying appropriate role models, who both inspire and motivate others.
In launching this category we were looking to recognise an individual who has had a sustained career, and who has not only had made a very significant contribution to the pharmacy sector, but who has also been an inspiration to their peers.
Judges are particularly looking for evidence of someone with a level of dedication that goes above and
beyond the call of duty.
The winner will be a figure who has had a major impact on the pharmacy profession as a whole and is likely to have impacted on the working lives of most pharmacists over the course of the year, through demonstrating evidence of leadership, determination and clarity of thought.
The recipient of this prestigious award will be announced on the night.
The recipient of this award last year was pharmacy stalwart, Ian Cowan, whose input to UK-wide service development cannot be underestimated, and, needless to say, Ian was delighted with this recognition.
‘I am very humbled and delighted to receive this,’ Ian said on the night, ‘not
just for myself, but for the profession as a whole. This award demonstrates that age doesn’t matter. Achievement is in the eyes of your peers and colleagues and the community you serve.’
We look forward to announcing the recipient of this year’s Outstanding Contribution to Pharmacy Award on 11 March at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.
‘THE WINNER WILL BE A FIGURE WHO HAS HAD A MAJOR IMPACT ON THE PHARMACY PROFESSION AS A WHOLE AND IS LIKELY TO HAVE IMPACTED ON THE WORKING LIVES OF MOST PHARMACISTS OVER THE COURSE OF THE YEAR, THROUGH DEMONSTRATING EVIDENCE OF LEADERSHIP, DETERMINATION AND CLARITY OF THOUGHT.’
