PHARMACIST OF THE FUTURE
MONICA KATE HEWITT, ROBERT GORDON UNIVERSITY
Monica strongly believes that the pharmacist should be a cornerstone in society, playing an imperative role in every community or hospital to provide a bespoke, holistic experience for every patient. Monica acts as Pharmacist Defence Association (PDA) Representative for RGU and is a point of contact should they find themselves in any legal difficulty. Last summer, she helped to organise the Annual PDA Conference in Birmingham and was given the task of organising student packs for all attendees.
JOSHUA MILLER, UNIVERSITY OF STRATHCLYDE During his three years at Strathclyde University, Joshua has worked closely with the Head
of Teaching and MPharm Director, Dr Anne Boyter, to discuss what can be done to develop and evolve the course. In 2015, he founded the Staff Student Forum, which has facilitated a more open and informal medium in which students and staff can work to discuss and
produce solutions to problems. Joshua is also involved with The Royal Pharmaceutical Society in developing and participating in the RPS Student Champion programme.
ELEFTHERIA ARTEMIS GIATRA, ROBERT GORDON UNIVERSITY
As a Vice Representative of the RGU Pharmacy Defence Association (PDA) group, Eleftheria has worked to inform students about the necessity of having this association as a ‘guardian’ to rely on. She initially began work as IT Officer for the Institute of Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Chapter, which aims to promote patient safety among healthcare professionals at the university, before taking on the role of Vice President. This has given her the opportunity to organise informative events in collaboration with the rest of the committee.
CHARLOTTE RIGDEN, ROBERT GORDON UNIVERSITY
As this year’s President of RGU’s IHI Patient Safety Society, Charlotte is heavily involved in organising student-led events. In March 2015, she was a critical part of organising and running the first student-led event on the topic of anaphylaxis, which was highly praised, and, since then, has been very active in developing a patient-focused approach for IHI events. The first event she led this year, for example, was on diabetes mellitus, which involved compiling a shortlist of volunteers, who provided her with video clips describing their own experiences.
