PHARMACY TEAM MEMBER OF THE YEAR


LORRAINE THAIN, LOCHARDIL PHARMACY, INVERNESS


Lorraine has more than 20 years’ experience in community and hospital pharmacy, and joined the Lochardil Pharmacy team in May 2013. This was a new contract store and Lorraine was invaluable in the planning and organising of the pharmacy opening. Her role as ACT involves her undertaking the final accuracy check of the repeat prescriptions and monitored dosage systems, and she also undertakes key processes such as staff rotas, holiday planning, and end-of-month paperwork to the health board. Put simply, Lorraine is a great support for her pharmacist manager.


MARGARET CROOKSTON, WISHAW GENERAL HOSPITAL, WISHAW


Margaret has over 42 years’ service - all within pharmacy in NHS Lanarkshire. Currently the lead Technician for the JAC Pharmacy computer team, Margaret manages the electronic order transmission process and provides JAC system support to the three acute hospitals in


Lanarkshire. Within this role she works at a national level dealing with the Pharmacy Operations Group and National Procurement. Margaret is extremely dedicated to the pharmacy service and, prior to any new project commencing, will research it thoroughly and organise the transition period. In addition to this methodical approach she will also troubleshoot and plan for any potential issues and how to avoid/overcome these.


SHONA RAMSAY, LIBERTON HOSPITAL PHARMACY, EDINBURGH


Shona has worked at Liberton Hospital for 21 years. Her current role is Lead Pharmacy Technician and she is also the Senior Dispensing and Clinical Technician. Shona plays a central role in the hospital pharmacy team, assembling medicines for prescriptions. Not only does she play a major role as the clinical technical, managing the patients’ medicines supply, she is also central to the staff training, ensuring that orders are correct. Shona’s contribution to the pharmacy team is immense and is matched only by her contribution to the ward staff and wider multidisciplinary team.
