COMMUNITY PHARMACY TEAM OF THE YEAR

WELL PHARMACY, LOCKERBIE

Well provides a focal point for its community, with each member of the team on a first-name basis with patients and customers. The team goes out of its way to ensure that patients are well cared for, particularly during periods of snowy weather, where team members take the time to personally deliver prescriptions on foot to patients who are unable to get out in the snow. Each member of the team contributes different skills to the branch, enhancing the knowledge and services of the whole team.

ROWLANDS PHARMACY, ELLON The Rowlands team has invested heavily in expanding its services to its local

community. The pharmacy comprises a large team since the branch provides both a large dispensing volume and a variety of OTC/retail offerings. The team will

frequently have a ‘huddle’ to decide upon the best course of action to improve performance or to review process. It embraces change in a positive manner and continually challenges and reviews how things are done to improve on this.

MELVILLE CHEMIST, M&D GREEN, GLASGOW

Each member of the Melville Chemist team has been trained to the highest standards, primarily in their own role, but each person also has vast knowledge of what is happening across other areas of the pharmacy and is able to act in any capacity as required. The dispensary staff, for example, have a wide knowledge of the retail side of the pharmacy and are often involved in visual merchandising of retail stock, but all staff are happy to help others during busy or stressful periods.

BOOTS UK, MILL ROAD

The team at Boots Pharmacy Mill Road has created a really robust ‘model day’, which allows them to be at their best for their patients every day. This involves two hours of out-of-hours dispensing every morning – with the pharmacist signing in as Responsible Pharmacist to allow them to be available during opening hours. The team supports and challenges each other and all have the common purpose of keeping the pharmacist free for service provision to patients.
