Broadstone Fields In Trust Family Fun Day: 2nd July
What a wonderful day we were blessed with for the Do get the date in your diary for next year - Sunday 1st July 2018 – and be part of the best day out.
Broadstone Family Fun Day on Sunday 2nd July.
Thousands fl ocked to the recreation ground to enjoy the ever popular dog show and donkey derby, to see the beautiful vintage cars brought from around the area and take part in games raising money for community groups, charities and local businesses.
We are still working out how much money was raised at the Fun Day, but it is likely that the Broadstone Fields in Trust Association will have made at least £2,000 to improve the recreation facilities on our two sites, and that local charities and community groups benefi tted by another £3,000+.
We were delighted that Miss Dorset – who lives in Broadstone – was available to open the event, covered in paint as she had hotfooted it straight from the Rainbow Run at Upton Country Park, and that children from Shine Academy of Performing Arts and from Broadstone First School shared their talents to start the show. The Air Cadets and Sean Burgess kept us in check with their drill and boot camp – so we now know where to head for a bit of discipline!
We are thrilled that the musicians from Poole Symphonic Concert Band have already agreed to return next year, and our last minute addition of Shifting Sands allowed everyone to enjoy the summer sun for the afternoon.
Huge thanks must go to our committee and volunteers, we are already planning the 2018 event and we need at least two new members of the committee as long-term volunteers move onto other projects. If you can spare a little bit of time to help us, I would love to hear from you.
Thanks to all of our stallholders and participants, to our sponsors – especially to McCarthy & Stone our headline sponsor – and to everyone who visited the event to make it probably the best yet!
