Poole Athletic Club

Millie ran in the Anniversary Games Melissa Courtney was entered for the Womens’ 1500m in the British Trials at Birmingham in July. (The fi rst two were selected to compete for GB in the forthcoming World Championships in London in August). She placed 5th, but was then invited to run in the special one mile event in the Anniversary Games in the London Olympic Stadium on 9th July. In placing 8th in 4-23.15 she earned the impressive ranking of 8th on the UK All-Time list for the event!

Caitlin best in Birmingham English Schools

As a result of her high-quality performances in the Dorset Schools’ and the South West Schools’, Caitlin B (pictured training at Ashdown) was selected (one of seven from Poole AC) to compete for Dorset in the massive ESAA

Championships in Birmingham in July.

In the Inter Girls’ Hammer competition she placed 12th (out of 21) with 48.66m.

This was the best of the PAC performances. This time none of the Dorset athletes gained medals or trophies

– a time of transition and building for the future.

European contacts A recent arrival in Poole has been Benjamin H from Denmark, due to stay with his family in Poole until Christmas. He will be competing for PAC and hopefully will repeat earlier success by Fredi Pogba from Germany, a visitor in 2016.

Another contact has been from a Belgian family due to tour in the UK and their son will hopefully train at Ashdown in August.

Helping the Scouts

The Scouts at Parkstone asked if we could help them to get their Athletics badges. So in June, four PAC coaches helped twelve of them to try fi ve events in two hours and succeed in their quest. Thus we try to help the community.

And the Leagues!

Our efforts continue in fi ve Leagues. More news in September.
