Clegg Construction completes multi-million

pound HQ for client Clegg Construction has completed a new headquarters for a global electrical, power and data solutions company which will create more than 140 jobs. The £6.2m build for OE

Electrics, in Wakefield, has been handed over by Clegg Construction’s Yorkshire office, based in Leeds. It will allow OE to cater for

increasing demand and the growth will help create 144 office, assembly and apprenticeship roles. The scheme is one of a

number of projects Clegg Construction has completed in Yorkshire in the past year, including a £3.5m extension to the University of Sheffield’s Casting Technology Institute.

New expansion for

Forsyth Barnes Executive appointments consultancy Forsyth Barnes has chosen Nottingham for its first expansion outside of its HQ in London. Forsyth Barnes specialises in

placing senior executives, directors, board members and senior management across a number of key industries. It has also joined the Chamber to help facilitate its growth and market reach across the Midlands. Managing Partner Scott

Parsons said: “I’m from Nottingham and have always been a big advocate for the city. We already have key clients that have urged us to have a Midlands presence to provide an even better service in placing both permanent and interim executives with them. The move is going well at present with a lot of interest from new clients that haven’t had a local partner for senior hires before.”

Growing Leicestershire plant hirer invests £3m in fleet

Danaher & Walsh Plant Hire has completed a £3m investment in new environmentally-friendly construction machinery. Orders have been placed with

Caterpillar and Volvo for a range of plant, which will increase both the size and breadth of the hire fleet. As well as 23 excavators, the orders include six articulated dump trucks and a bulldozer. The new machines feature the

latest in fuel-saving, emission- reducing technology and meet the stringent requirements of the Tier Four emissions standard.

Manufacturer creates jobs following investment

A £250,000 investment by an award-winning Ollerton manufacturer has boosted productivity by 30% over the past 12 months, which has led to the creation of eight new jobs since the start of the year. A1 Flue Systems invested the money in new machinery, made key infrastructure upgrades to its factory in Ollerton, near Newark, and reconfigured the flow of its manufacturing assembly line as part of a programme of ongoing improvements.

‘We have seen a huge uplift in project wins since Brexit’

The award-wining company has created jobs in its

manufacturing, sales, estimating and installation departments as a result of improving productivity. Director TJ Duncan-Moir said that the rationale

behind the reconfiguration has been to group processes into more-sequential sections so that there’s a better flow of products throughout the various stages of manufacture in the 54,000sq ft factory. She said: “We work on more than 5,000 projects each year and an analysis of our complete manufacturing

processes meant we were able to identify ways to increase our productivity. We have moved to a layout of dedicated manufacturing zones for specific products – such as elbows, tees and flue pipe – which has alleviated a lot of the bottlenecks we had. “The results have been dramatic, as we have been able

to make more products in less time – which has been so important at a pivotal time for our business, where we have seen a huge uplift in project wins since Brexit. In the last half of 2016 alone, we saw a £1m increase in orders. All of this has enabled us to take on more staff and is giving us a stronger platform for more growth.”

Pochin’s service ranked the best

Leicester-based independent bathroom showroom Pochin has won a national award for having the best customer service. Pochin picked up the prize at the

2017 kbbreview Retail & Design Awards – the longest running awards event in the kitchen and bathroom industry. The team at Pochin’s showroom

on William Street was first judged the best in Leicester and then the best in the UK after mystery shoppers assessed the service they enjoyed.

Pochin Commercial Director

Simon Froggatt was presented with the award by celebrity host Jimmy Carr and Yvonne Orgill from award sponsor the Bathroom Manufacturers Association at the ceremony. Simon said: “This win recognises

the tremendous effort our showroom staff put into delivering excellent customer service all day, every day. “Their success is reflected in the

extremely high number of referrals we get as customers recommend

us to family and friends. We are delighted.” Tim Wallace, Editor of kbbreview,

said: “We would like to extend our congratulations to Pochin on winning the Bathroom Customer Service of the Year award, and wish them every success in the future. “We were genuinely

overwhelmed by the number of entries this year, which is fantastic to see and, as ever, the standard was outstanding, so to be named a winner is a massive accomplishment.”
