Firm advises sale of WT Parker Group


Midlands advisory firm Cooper Parry Corporate Finance has advised the shareholders of WT Parker Group, a mechanical, electrical and process engineering services business, on the sale of the company to Edwin James Holdings (EJH). The deal, which sees EJH,


backed by private equity fund Aliter Capital, acquire 100% of the share capital of WT Parker Group, will expand EJH’s geographical footprint and create a business with combined revenues of circa £110m and just under 1,000 staff. The sale price is undisclosed. WT Parker has been owned


by the Parker family for more than 90 years. The family owners are no longer involved in the day-to-day running of the business and will exit completely. Phil Hinson, from Cooper


Parry Corporate Finance, said: “As a firm, we have worked with WT Parker for a number of years and are delighted to have used our in-depth support services sector knowledge and private equity expertise to advise on a deal which positions the company for the next stage of its development.” Legal advice to the


shareholders was provided by Geldards. DWF and BDO advised Edwin James Holdings.


University raises a glass to new partnership


The University of Nottingham has agreed a new partnership with Molson Coors Brewing Company UK & Ireland, which will see staff at both organisations working more closely with each other in the future. Molson Coors has a long


association with The University of Nottingham and has been involved in various collaborations in the past, including funding a PhD student whose research paper on flavour stability in beer was presented at the European Brewing Convention congress 2015 in Porto. Under the new agreement,


Molson Coors will work with the university to support innovation and developing talented people through their MSc programme to enter the brewing industry. One of the first initiatives will


involve a funding award for full- time MSc Brewing Science students, covering 50% of their course fee and giving them the opportunity to undertake a three- month project at Molson Coors’ Burton brewery. The award will be given to up to two students every year for the next three years. Future collaborative projects are


also being explored, including research, student placements and guest lectureships. Molson Coors Brewing Company


is the third largest brewer in the world, with a strong presence in the US, Canada, Europe, and a further presence in nearly 80 other countries.

Cricket partnership with a view for Air-IT


Award-winning IT and Communications provider Air-IT has renewed its sponsorship deal with Derbyshire County Cricket Club for the 2017 season. With its head offices in Nottingham, the deal is one of several key strategic partnerships to strengthen the company’s presence in Derby and the wider East Midlands region. Air-IT gained significant exposure from its first year as a sponsor of


Derbyshire last season. With branded signage across the entire width of the player’s balcony at the 3aaa County Ground, the company was visible to sell-out home crowds, and featured on Sky Sports for a number of fixtures during 2016. Following an investment of £2m to improve facilities and now into its


second phase of development, further improvements at Derbyshire are well underway, which makes for an exciting time to be involved with the club. Air-IT’s Marketing Director, Paul Judge, said: “We are proud to partner
