Dave Wood - Editor
Don’t miss our tale of a DofE participant who astounded her parents, teachers and Leaders with how she overcame some personal difficulties to change her life through the DofE (page 35).
On a personal note... two of my sons have just returned from their expedition training and practice weekend. It was very wet and took them out of their comfort zones but their spirits seemed to have stayed high, helped by their team mates and how they worked together to achieve their goal... although they did miss their gadgets!
The magazine for DofE Leaders Welcome
With the dust settling after a truly amazing Diamond Anniversary year, we are pleased to launch an exciting new Challenge – see the centre pages for the full details and take the DofE Challenge!
So many schools – and their students – have been reaping the benefits of the DofE’s Year 9 pilot project to enable young people to start their programme in the school year they turn 14. Dean Jefferys reports on the outstanding success of this initiative (page 6). At the other end of the journey, we show how Licensed Organisations can work together to help participants complete their programmes and achieve their Awards (page 13).
Also this month, we take a look at the huge developments in the world of DofE training (page 8) and discover how the Charity’s partners are helping to make careers fairs a success for young people (page 18).
Our eDofE Update this month (page 24) reports on recent and planned developments, whilst we reveal what happens to those incident report forms that are submitted to DofE Head Office (page 31). Looking further at the world of DofE Approved Activity Providers, Jade Herriott gives an update on one of the first Skills section AAPs (page 33), whilst we focus on a residential provider that will create lasting memories for your participants (page 37).
