Restaurant, Denia Las Marinas by Fiona Jennison
I have been heading to this place ever since my daughter was small for three reasons. (1) to distract her (and me actually) with their amazing parrots and other birds (2) their ridiculously sized wine by the glass and (3) the mountain-and-hunky-kite- surfer views.
Tenere is a beach front restaurant on the Marinas section of this amazing thirteen kilometre long beach with damp sand perfect for building sand
castles. Annoying when one would rather have a second glass of wine than be handed a spade, but it has to be said this is an amazing spot for families.
There is a great range of popular economical snacks and meals, and kids menu, as proved by their many five star Facebook reviews, and the fact that they have an eighty percent occupancy by regulars, which you can see is true by the amount of time Michael the lovely manager has to spend chatting at each table.
Tenere is an international collaboration with something for every nationality. The owners Alex and Sandra are Spanish, Michael is German, the chef is Dutch.
For us Brits they offer fabulous beer battered fish and chips on Fridays with fresh cod driven down to this restaurant from the UK every week! And many other English classics including liver and onion. Their best seller is chicken and chips which we had last weekend and was very satisfying. Tapas galore are on offer, including king prawns, and they specialise in paellas and barbecued meats.
The place is well used by big associations making the most of the 15€ menu del dia, with all the trimmings, and the beach front view. I have done a bit of a deal here, ladies and gentlemen - charities or organisations that mention Female Focus will be given an entire bottle of wine per person! Just need to book a coach and a driver then!
The family of Macau and African grey parrots Lola, Clara and Dennis are lovely to watch and talk to, as they are totally untethered or caged. This is because they are a happy family, very content with their food and service, just like the many human clients at Tenere which is open 365 days a year by the way. Well someone has to feed the parrots and the beach addicts! See the advert below for contact details.
It now remains for me to say goodbye to you dear readers. I have had a great time reviewing restaurants for Female Focus and working with the lovely team. But other writing commitments are now taking up more time (including a book deal which I hope I will be allowed to tell you more about nearer the time of publication!) and my teaching business is booming. For those interested in economical beginner to intermediate Spanish classes myself and my bilingual colleague run very entertaining groups using lots of games to get you talking and learning with a laugh. I am also a qualified, experienced teacher of English to adults and children if any of your Spanish friends are interested. Please see the website

Best wishes, all, and I sincerely hope that my reviews have resulted in some great lunches and dinners…..
