This is a friendly discussion group which meets up every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month from 6pm to 8pm at the Jacaranda Bar, Moraira, located at the corner of Calle de Mar de Timor and Camino de Viejo del Portet. We aim to promote investigation and research in order to share information and discuss topics related to phenomena or events which are not easy explained and try to come up with theories to explain them. Including such well known topics as the Great Egyptian Pyramids, The Aztec civilisation, the newly discovered pyramids in Bosnia, the meaning of the Sumarian stone tablets. A speaker will discuss a
chosen topic or a variety of topics and this is followed by a question and answer session where all will be invited to discuss the subject of the talk and possibly expand on the theme. The group offers those who are interested the opportunity to learn more about these fascinating subjects. For more information email

U3A Val del Pop Egyptology Group - Meetings at Jalon Town Hall
Egyptology is one of the best attended U3A Val del Pop groups largely as it is led by one of the world’s best-known Egyptologists – writer, TV presenter, renowned international lecturer, historian and archaeologist, David Rohl has an ability to present this ancient history (much of which you won’t be able to read about in popular books on the subject nor see in the Hollywood blockbusters) in an interesting and relevant way, which holds everyone’s interest such that the ninety minute lectures fly by. The LAND OF THE PHARAOHS group is centred on the study of Ancient Egypt from the Pre-dynastic Age to the absorption of the Nile valley into the Roman Empire in 30 BC. David includes occasional lectures on the history and archaeology of the Old Testament, the Minoan bull-leaping culture of Crete, the warlike Hittites of Anatolia (modern Turkey), as well as some ‘specials’ on completely different topics such as the legendary epic tale of the Trojan War and the Romano-Spanish traditions surrounding the Sangreal (‘Holy Grail’). But, don’t let that put you off! The presentations are easy to follow and full of wonderful visuals … so you can just relax and let the magic of Egypt and the rest of the Ancient World wash over you like the gentle waters of the River Nile. The 2017 programme includes: 20th February – Seeing Through the Eye of Horus [The landscape and environment of ancient Egypt and how it moulded the unique pharaonic culture]. 13th March – Mountains of the Pharaohs [The Development of Pyramids]. 10th April – Houses of Millions of Years [The Great Temples of the New Kingdom]. 15th May – The Body in Tomb 55 [Akhenaten – heretic pharaoh]. Egyptology meetings are held in Jalon Town Hall starting at 11am. Entrance is free and all are welcomed to attend. See website [
http://u3avalldelpop.com] for further details of U3A Vall del Pop. New members always welcomed – come and join at our general meetings at the Polivant in Murla on the first Thursday of the month.
