Page 10 Brexit – it’s creeping up on you!
In the last few weeks, we’ve finally seen some comments about what the UK Government is thinking when it comes to Brexit. It’s looking more and more like what’s being called a ‘hard’ exit, which means a total split from Europe. Of course, this raises more questions than there are answers. As a financial consultant with one of the largest and most respected financial companies – deVere – I get asked all the time “What should I do?”.

To be fair, it’s a great question and one that I am sure most of you are thinking to yourselves. So, what should you do? After all, the implications for Brexit are possibly quite dramatic and could have an effect on your livelihood, especially if you are relying in part on a pension from the UK?
As you can imagine, I see a lot of people and the first question I ask is “do you know your financial position?”, and in truth, most people do not. This is vital as it’s impossible to give any financial advice – Brexit or no Brexit – without establishing a baseline. At deVere we do this for you. For example, just tell us where you worked and we investigate your pension status. We can then give you options of how best to proceed based on your financial aims and your approach to risk. I often come up with solutions that people simply don’t know about, and why should they. After all, I wouldn’t presume to be knowledgeable about how to run a beauty salon, so why would a beauty salon owner have any knowledge about financial instruments!
