Events: You have said that Kalahari is in a "category of one."What makes it such a unique experience?

Nelson: All events at Kalahari Resorts and Conventions are complemented by the resorts’authentic,African-themed décor, creative on site planning services, and a wealth of on site activities all- under-one-roof.Meeting attendees are encouraged to make a vacation out of their stay at Kalahari, bringing the whole family to enjoy:America’s Largest Indoor Waterparks; signature dining experiences; award-winning family entertainment ven- ues; Spa Kalahari and Salon; golf and so much more.

Kalahari offers versatile meeting spaces, too - from ballrooms to meeting rooms and hospitality suites,a full business cen- ter, state-of-the-art communications tech- nology and stunning accommodations.

Kalahari has a proven ability to consis- tently increase meeting attendance by more than 20 percent, with an average block pick-up of 108 percent, leading to a higher satisfaction.More than 22,000 groups have selected Kalahari as their venue of choice, which has resulted in

more than 1.4 million group rooms since opening our first property in the Wisconsin Dells.

We have a sales and catering team that totals more than 400 years of experience, and we know what it takes to host the perfect event.

The unique environment Kalahari pro- vides is what makes us a category of one - the authentically-African theme is car- ried throughout the resort and conven- tion center, reflected in the company cul- ture, the gift shop items purchased from African artisan communities and the art- work, sculptures and furniture that adorns the convention center, hallways, guest rooms and in every aspect of the resort. It’s all part of our commitment to bringing guests an authentically African, beyond expectations experience.

Events: Why did you choose the Pocono Mountains as the location for your newest Kalahari Resort? Do you have plans to add any additional locations?

Nelson: The Pocono Mountains is one of the premier tourist destinations in the country, and the area offers a multitude

of amenities and attractions. With some- thing for everyone, it’s a diverse area that attracts a wide variety of visitors - from families to couples of all ages. With about 50 million people living in a three-hour radius, there’s a lot of potential to tap.

Kalahari is currently focused on bringing the Pocono Mountains property to fruition.Phase II of the project will include 400 additional guest rooms,an additional 100,000-square feet of indoor waterpark space, and a Safari Outdoor Adventure Park with dry play features, hiking trails and more (a development date has not yet been determined).

We are committed to bringing a seam- less, beyond expectations experience to those on the East Coast, and will contin- ue to do so in the Midwest locations of Wisconsin Dells and Sandusky,Ohio,as well.
