www.character-online.com Brand new from Character Options this Summer are Zelfs; quirky dolls with colourful hair, with many to collect, and ultra-rare dolls to hunt for. Zelfs, developed by Moose Enterprises, have
everything required for a girl’s collectable brand. They’re cute, friendly and each has its own personality, which is echoed in its shock of coloured hair and intricate body-art (Zelfmark). Driving the collectability will be the pocket money pencil topper dolls called Lil’Zelfs. Presented in their very own plant pots, Series 1 will have 36 small Zelfs to collect. Fans will search for the limited edition characters amongst them available in matt, glitter and pearl fi nishes. Zelfs will also be released with 12 medium size dolls to collect, including the ultra-rare doll, Clover. Each comes with a hair styling accessory and brush, plus a charm that can be threaded and worn by the Zelf or the collector. The dolls also come complete with their own biography and storytelling themes. Large Zelfs dolls will add to the choice with glow in the dark, metallic or glitter fi nishes. Zelfs play sets, such as the Venus Fly Trap Spin
Salon, will create further fun possibilities for collectors of the medium sized Zelfs. The colourful playset has an exclusive Zelf who sits in the Venus’s styling chair. Zelfs will launch in July with a marketing campaign to support the brand. TV will create over 750 TVRs, and a dedicated one-off magazine will sample Lil’ Zelfs to girls aged 5-8 while transporting them into the magical Zelf world with 36 Zelf- inspired stories and activities. Additionally, there will be a full press campaign throughout the Autumn, plus in store events, social media pushes to parents to increase word of mouth, regular webisode releases, and a planned creative writing campaign called ‘Express yourZelf’ with schools.

Princess Holly takes centre stage throughout the collection with different features, whilst new characters Strawberry, Fleur and Violet have been added to the range for collectability. Shoulder Buddies has introduced a new wave of main characters, a series of special Gemstone Shoulder Buddies, as well as Hello Kitty versions of the girls collectable. All Shoulder Buddies can be attached to a child’s clothing or backpack with the magical coin that is included. Each Shoulder Buddy has a design on its tummy, a matching ‘Smarts’ collector card, along with a mane of hair.

Building onto its extensive Disney Princess range Rubie’s has included two new lines: the Glitter Princesses and the Royal dresses. Rubie’s Disney Royal
dresses all come in the signature styles of the princesses Belle, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Rapunzel, Ariel and Tiana. Each dress comes with glitter applications refl ecting the Princess and her story. All Royal dresses come with glitter applications on the puff sleeves and little character typical glitter details on the skirt. The Royal Belle dress is adorned with roses and little tea pots and cups. The Rubie’s Glitter Disney Princess range is completed with glitter skirts and tiaras. In 2012 Rubie’s added Merida to its Disney Princess collection. She is the heroine of the Disney/Pixar movie, Brave, which was released last August. New styles for 2013 also include a red and pink Minnie tutu set. Complete with headband with ears and bow, tutu and gloves, and the signature dots. The new pink and red Minnie Glitz dresses have puff skirts and sleeves, velvet applications on the bodice and come with headband with ears. Girls can choose between Tinker Bell and her friends Silver Mist and Rosetta and her Sister Periewinkle. All costumes come in the signature colours with detachable wings.
