Chairman's 10 Unmissable things at Food Festival 2012 This year is the 10th anniversary of the Festival and the organising team
have been celebrating that milestone by organising a great programme of events for 2012. I find it very hard to choose a top 10 list from everything that’s going on but these are at least some of the things I’m really looking forward to:
1
Launching the Festival with music, theatricality and of course
some nice bits to taste on Thursday 25th
, Avenue Gardens at 5pm
2012 and wonderfully well stocked by Browns Hotel and The Royal Castle.
2 3
Popping across to Kingswear for the beer festival at the Ship Inn.
Colin will have dozens of great ales and ciders throughout the Festival.
Visiting the Festival Wine Bar on South Embankment – new for
Nibbling some tapas with Serin and Simon of Smith Street Deli at their stand in Royal Avenue Gardens
Thomasina Miers at our Saturday Morning Live at The Flavel Event. So excited !!!!

Kicking things off at a Great British Puddings and Pies Street
Party on Thursday 25th. A proper knees up with great food and great atmosphere.
Feeling Competitive?
If overdosing on a summer of sport and the Great British Bake-Off has left you feeling ready to take on the world then challenge yourself at one of more of these events at the festival.
Festival Pasty Competition Do you have a secret pasty recipe like no other? Is your crimping second to none? If you think so then the annual Festival Pasty Competition organised by Philip Watts of Philip’s Food is the place to discover Dartmouth’s true pasty champion. This event is open to all but we’re especially keen for families and young people to get involved. You’ll make and deliver your pasty in advance and our panel of experts will then judge it. Judging will take place in Royal Avenue Gardens at 2:30 on Saturday 27th Details will be available on the website or pick up an entry form from Dartmouth Yacht Club.
RGC Omelette Olympics How fast can you make an omelette? It’s our own 2012 Olympic event with your chance to make a three-egg omelette against the clock. Your time goes on our Olympic leader board and if you’re the fastest on the day you win champagne – and a festival “gold” medal. Sponsored by RGC Building Supplies, the event takes place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10.30-12.30 and from 1.30- 3.30. We provide the eggs, it’s just £1 to enter – and you take away your piping hot omelette!
The Dartmouth Food Festival ‘Blind Wine Tasting Competition’ Competition’ hosted by Liam Stevenson of Red and White Wines In its third year now, this event offers anyone who think they know a chardonnay from a shiraz when they taste one the chance to challenge their taste buds, and attempt to identify 6 wines served blind. This event will take place in the Royal Castle Hotel from 11 – 3 on Sunday 28th. Take on members of the public and trade alike and try and win dinner for two, at The Royal Castle Hotel and a magnum of champagne. Tickets £5 per person.
