KINGSWEAR REGATTA At the time of writing the regatta committee has not yet
met for their ‘Wash-up Meeting’ and the presentation of cheques, however they have told me that the money cre- ated will be donated to RNLI, Kingswear Rowing Club and the village firework fund.
The regatta enjoyed good weather and was graced by the smiling presence of Monty Halls who opened proceed- ings. Jonathan Hawkins upheld the dignity of his Chair- man of Parish Council role by being dunked in cold water. Later on he had recovered enough to give out the prizes, so no permanent harm had been done!
BONFIRE TIME
It is almost bonfire and fireworks time again, which means that it can only be days now until Christmas (Aarrrghhh!). This is a plug for your support for the fireworks at the event and a pretty please request to dig deep into the pocket to support them. They really do cost more and more each year so we need more and more contributions. Please think about combustible materials too, i.e. wood. This will only be needed within two days before the bonfire because of the fire risk of storage. I know that’s silly but we live in a silly world, so there you are.•
