mid-week Lilac Tea are among the special attractions at Castle in the Clouds, now open on weekends and for special events. Peter Ferber, “The Castle Collection”, is now on view at the Carriage House Art Gallery. The Lilac Tea, Wednesday, June 8th, 1- 4, will be a very special event, and another first for the Castle. It will be held on the lawn at Lucknow, the Castle’s castle, with live music, linen draped tables and the freshly planted gardens and ex- panded views of the surrounding lakes and mountains as a backdrop. Castle in the Clouds will be open every day begin- ning June 11th, 10 to 4:30, with a full schedule of activities and special events throughout the summer. Covered Bridges Of New Hampshire
Presented by Glenn Knoblock at Moultonborough Public Library, Thursday, May 26, at 7pm. Given NH’s myriad streams, brooks, and rivers, it’s not surprising that 400 covered bridges have been documented. Often viewed as quaint relics of a simpler past, they were technological marvels of the day. It may be native ingenuity and NH’s woodworking tradition that account for the fact that a number of nationally noted covered bridge truss designers were NH natives. Knoblock will discuss covered bridge design and technology, learn about their designers, builders, and associated folklore. Highlighted by images of NH bridges, past and present, you will witness their ultimate transition from commonly used structures to historic icons.
