BY ALAN ORBELL THE St. Kitts Tourism Authority has announced that the first phase of sustainable community Kittitian Hill is due to open in December, with CEO Racquel Brown reiterating the importance of the trade to its success and the island’s tourism sector in general. “This is an exciting time in St. Kitts,”

Brown said. We get around 10,000 UK visitors a year but want to increase this by 3.2% per annum. We’re adding 300 rooms to our stock by 2016 and developing niche markets like culture and history and golf – we hope to have a major golf tournament in 2016. She added: “We want St. Kitts to be in

peoples’ top five destinations and we’ll be offering incentives to agents and operators who help us achieve this.” The first accommodation to open at Kittitian Hill is Belle Mont Farm, set among 400 acres of organic farmland and forest, with one-bedroom guesthouses and larger farmhouses. Boutique-style Belle Mont will offer sustainable urban living.

Guesthouses will have open

verandas and a porch or pool deck with sea and forest views. Ideal for families or groups of up to eight couples, farmhouses are built around a pavilion and kitchen. The second phase of accommodation

will be the three or four-bed Yaya Groves villas, also self-catering. kittitianhill.com
