Merlin’s delivery van routing App
for Android™ Merlin Business Software has developed a Delivery Van Routing App for Android™
– designed to reduce
cost and increase efficiency by eliminating the need for printed delivery notes and manifests.
T he App will allow users to download the delivery manifest for a given route or vehicle, plot a route using Google™ Maps
Navigation, send delivery updates and have customers sign for deliveries electronically, and stream the live information straight into a back office system. At the beginning of a shift a driver can log in with a username and password, input the date and route number
or vehicle registration into the application, and the App will automatically download the delivery manifest, with the lines and quantities to be delivered displayed. The driver can then plot a route, send updates via SMS (available only on devices with telephony capability) and email (available only where the device has an active data connection) to customers to show how long their delivery will take to arrive. “Having provided industry specific software to the fastener industry for over forty years, we realise there is a 50/50 split
in fastener suppliers delivering on their own transport and via carrier, with some delivering on both. Carrier integration is a module we’ve offered for some time now, integrating with ACE, APC, CityLink, DPD, FedEx, NetDespatch, ParcelForce, Tuffnells, TNT, TPN, UKMail and UPS, allowing suppliers to streamline their distribution process – removing the need to rekey the information on the carriers website. Now, with the recent increased demand for mobile applications in the work place and the roll out of 4G to 98% of the population by the end of 2014, we’ve developed our latest Delivery Van Routing App for Android™ which fully integrates with Merlin’s Delivery Van Routing module.”
