MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY
Another goal for S.M.A.R.T
S.M.A.R.T Srl has introduced its new NGW60 with integrated crack detecting unit – another successful application joining the extensive range of thread rolling machines offered worldwide by S.M.A.R.T.
producing more than 60 parts/min continuously. Specifically this S.M.A.R.T threading unit, the renowned MAXI W60, used by one of the most important steering bolt producers
U
in Europe, runs M18 x 300 steering bolts consistently at 60 parts per minute. This incomparable result is achieved thanks to the direct drive technology used for both the rotating table of the crack detecting unit and for the threader – and a bringing together of all the many well known and unique features characteristic to all S.M.A.R.T developments. S.M.A.R.T proudly claims, from its foundation, “to have reinvented the threading world through its original and advantageous solutions, which have been and are constantly, but mainly unsuccessfully, copied by other fastener machinery manufacturers”. Thanks to several international patents S.M.A.R.T is confident it continues to represent the “top” – with resultant consequences in terms of performance, precision and reliability – plus a real and measurable energy saving caused by a better efficiency. The extensive use of direct motors, both linear and rotary, allows accurate and immediate changeover, with a more and
more repeatable set up, in order to achieve exceptional precision in the finished parts and a very positive influence on die life. The S.M.A.R.T threading world offers standard and customised solutions, able to roll from 1.4mm diameter parts up to M48 – always using the same innovative and exclusive technological approach.
Tectorius™ T 84 introduces fastener coating machinery US based Tectorius™ has introduced new fastener coating application
equipment, meaning that the company is able to supply both coating materials and automated application equipment.
his new line of equipment is specifically designed to apply adhesives, sealants, lubricants and coating materials to threaded parts. Units are available in several configurations, and apply a wide range of coating products, both high and low viscosity, to most common types and sizes of fasteners and small components.
Additionally, Tectorius custom formulates and manufactures materials tailored to customer
needs, for both fastener and non-fastener applications. “Our expertise in both materials and machinery provides comprehensive solutions to coating
questions for clients entering the application field. We serve a variety of sectors including the automotive, aerospace, and electronic industries.”

ntil S.M.A.R.T developed the new production line (pictured above), fed by a Nedschroef heading machine, the typical process for rolling steering bolts was achieved by two or three roll machines, generally followed by a separate crack detecting device. The best optimisation of this traditional process allowed for no better than 10 – 12 parts/min productivity. Today, thanks to unmatched S.M.A.R.T technology, it is possible to have an integrated production line, capable of
