Westfield announced at the end of June a UK shopping first with the launch of its personalised mobile app ‘My Westfield’ which offers consumers unique shopping content from their personal favourite retailers.
Westfield London and Westfield Stratford City shoppers will benefit from a fully personalised shopping experience on their mobile. With just a few simple screen swipes shoppers can ‘Swote™’; a combination of swiping and voting up for like, down for dislike – and within 30 seconds the new Westfield app is able to generate a customer profile containing over 600 interests, 2,000 brand affinities and 84 demographics of that user based upon the retailers and content they love.
Westfield retailers such as John Lewis, Debenhams and Hobbs have signed up to the digital innovation that will enable them to provide tailored messages to their customers free of charge.

A MAD PARTY! INDEPENDENTS DAY 2013
Across the UK on Thursday 4th July 2013 thousands of retailers celebrated their independence and encouraged the public to buy at least one item from their local, independent shop in a bid to keep their small shops alive.
Theo Paphitis long time star of the BBC’s Dragons’ Den, Chairman of Ryman Stationery and Robert Dyas and founder of the lingerie brand Boux Avenue said, “I am supporting this year’s Independents’ Day campaign as I believe that independent businesses have a vital role to play in our economy. This campaign celebrates the drive, commitment, enthusiasm and passion that most small retailers possess, and need, to make it in retail, as well as the contribution they make to local communities.”
As mentioned in my leader this issue, on 27th June I enjoyed an evening with MAD about Design at their summer drinks evening which took place at No 5 Cavendish Square (just off Oxford Street). As always, it was an enjoyable evening with likeminded retail professionals.
