MAXIMISING THE RETAIL EXPERIENCE


Dalziel and Pow, a retail design specialist were given a design brief by Johnsons. We find out from them how they have utilised the space in one of Chiles leading department stores.


With the focus on family as their prime customer, Johnson aspires to be the number one convenience department store in Chile. With over 40 branches they have an extensive product range of mens, womens, kids and homeware all targeted at the value sector.


Dalziel and Pow were given the design brief in 2012 to design the in‐store communications, maximising the retail experience by creating a more practical layout and subsequently an easier journey for the customer and a friendlier environment.


They have created a more open feel, core destination points, defined circulation walkways, versatile triple‐height display


solutions (to maximise product density) and clear defined service areas. They have also developed an architectural statement treatment that links all the service areas, atrium and storefront as part of the new identity, which creates impact and adds value to the brand experience. Johnson is expanding into countries across South America and plan to continue with this new concept as well as adapting their existing stores in 2013.
